We will spend the next few months here fine-tuning our Spanish so that we can arrive in Colombia in May ready to hit the ground running! It didn’t take long to get back into the groove of language school life. While returning to a familiar place, so much has changed not only in what we have encountered, but also in ourselves since last time we were here. I’ve looked through our blog and re-read some of our posts from early 2006 when we first arrived and I can remember the awe of a new country, the fear of figuring it all out and the look on Corey and the kids’ faces when they were dropped into a world of a strange language. This time around, however, everyone has entered with confidence knowing where to go, how to communicate and just what to expect in general. It has made this transition much less stressful than the time before and, for that, we are so grateful!
Alex and Maggie have returned to Sojourn Academy for the next quarter of their 9th and 7th grade years, respectively. They are both taking part in after-school soccer and enjoying time with old and new friends.
Corey is in Spanish classes full-time and Tona is alternating between Spanish courses and helping tutor an English student from Chile who is preparing to become a missionary to India.
Prayer Requests
- Please keep Alex and Maggie’s education in your prayers. They will complete the third quarter of the school year here in Costa Rica, but we are trying to formulate a plan for the fourth quarter as we transition to Colombia. Also, we are still lacking enough funding for them to attend a school in Colombia, so please pray for provision and favor for them to be able to enroll when we arrive.
- Please pray that we will maximize every opportunity while we are here in Costa Rica. Although we are here for a short time, we want to serve and be a blessing in any way possible.
- Please pray for good health for our family. We have all been dealing with allergy issues since we arrived.
